Translation modification and revision services

DEFINITION

Modification and Revision Services are included in the Translation Services category since they are closely connected with a Plain or Sworn Translation service provided at an earlier stage by Exhibit (modification) or any other supplier (revision).

The cost and turnaround time of these services is in direct relation with the quality of the supplied material and the Client's diligence to state with accuracy (by using Word's "Track Changes" tool, for example) any modification introduced in a former version of the original text in the case of Modification Services or dubious solutions and presumed flaws spotted in the translation in the case of a Revision Service. Clients may wish Exhibit to undertake the whole identification process of such changes and flaws, but frequently this entails a substantial increase of Turnaround Time and, in due course, a significant impact on its final price and execution time.

Thus, we may define each of these services as follows:

	Modification Service: a translation service seeking the introduction of the succesive modifications made to a draft original previously translated by Exhibit up to its final version, as well as the adjustment and full revision of the translation of the modified document through each of its succesive versions.
	Revision Service: a translation service seeking the revision of a translation that has not been produced by Exhibit on the basis of the documentation (original and translation) submitted by the Client.

PROPOSAL ANALYSIS & ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION

Upon the submission of a Revision Service Proposal, Exhibit shall make an assessment of the quality of the translation earmarked for revision. On the basis of the results of the preliminary assessment of the consistency of the translation with the original and its formal quality, Exhibit shall advise its Clients to proceed with the more cost-effective option between these two:
- undertake the revision of the submitted translation correcting observed deficiencies and enhancing its lexical and formal quality or
- undertake the translation of the original anew when the submitted translation is of very poor quality and its revision would clearly entail a higher cost for the Client.

INVOICING STANDARD SYSTEM

Unlike plain and sworn translation services which are invoiced on the basis of the wordcount of the original document, modification and revision services are charged on an hourly basis.
