Professional background of the Managing Partner

Professional track record of the Managing Director

Exhibit Translations, S.L. is a business undertaking based on the consolidation of a long-standing professional career at the highest level in the sector.

The academic background and professional qualifications of Raúl García, Exhibit's managing partner, may be summarised as follows: MA Degree in English Philology (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 1989); Postgraduate Degree in Conference Interpreting awarded by the Instituto de Lenguas Modernas y Traductores (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 1994); Sworn Translator & Interpreter of English appointed via examinations by the Spanish Foreign Office (1995); and Sworn Translator & Interpreter of French appointed via examinations by the Spanish Foreign Office (1996). In addition, in 2001, Raúl García passed the UN International Competitive Examinations for Spanish Verbatim Reporters.

In addition, Mr. García is a full professional member of Asetrad, the Spanish Association of Translators, Editors and Interpreters, the only Spanish association in the industry which is a member of the International Federation of Translators (FIT).

His professional track-record starts in 1985 when he joined a Stock Exchange Brokerage Firm in Madrid where he worked for five years while reading Philology at University before taking a decisive turn in his career towards his true vocation: translation and interpretation.

Since 1990, his professional practice, in sundry conditions and positions, has enabled him to acquire the highest standards and skills in the field of legal and financial translations, particularly in his capacity as a Sworn Interpreter of both English and French.

Until 1997, he practised as an independent translator and taught Legal Translation (English-Spanish) and Conference Interpreting (English-French-Spanish). From that period, mention should be made of his stint as an external translator for the Office of the Spanish Prime Minister (1994-1996) which he complemented with the services he provided to medium-sized law-firms, company consultancy firms, public notaries' offices and a few translation agencies or companies.

In December 1997, he entered a Framework Translation contract with the European Commission awarded through a tender procedure opening a new period in his career that came to a close in 2003. As an EC External Translator for both English and French into Spanish he had the opportunity to work on a regular basis for the following General Directorates: Taxation and Customs Union, Trade, Developement, External Relations and Enlargement .For the English-Spanish combination, he was ranked first, second or third in the quality/price classification of EC external contractors for most of the contracted lots. During this period, EC assignments accounted for 85% of his total turnover.

At the beginning of 2004, he gave up his status as an independent translator and interpreter and did not bid for a second renewal of his EC Framework Contract to become the Head of the Language Services Department of a major Spanish law-firm. His choice proved most enriching for his career as he was given the opportunity, not only of continuing providing translation and interpretation services at the highest level, but also to assume new responsibilities such as the creation, coordination, management and supervision of a network of specialised translators with the highest quality standards in the profession.

The experience mustered in project and team management, the mutual confidence and understanding raised over time with the members of said network, the knowledge acquired in respect of the needs and procedures regarding legal and financial international practices, and a strong belief that the most demanding segment of legal and financial translation seekers seldom find a specialist provider of language services that lives up to their expectations in terms of quality, reliability and professional competence laid the foundations for the creation of Exhibit, a company whose distinctive features lie with the specific nature of its services and objectives and the outstanding quality and efficiency of the human and technical ressources supporting our committment to serve.
